How does the Levitating Moon lamp work?

The Moon Lamp works by maglev technology to float above the stationary base. It hovers an inch away from the magnetic base while transferring energy to the 3D printed moon.

As long as the Moon Lamp is suspended in the magnetic connection, the lamp will be lit. The lack of friction means that one spin can last for hours. If you prefer the lamp to be still then simply put your hand on the moon for a moment to keep it still.

This means you can have the lamp on while studying for your astrophysics exam, mapping out a new design or simply to show others the marvel of modern based living.

Are moon lamps safe?

Moon lamps are extremely safe to use. Battery powered lamps like the Original Moon Lamp use a light-weight battery that does not overheat when plugged in. Our Levitating Moon Lamps use magnets to levitate which cause no friction. To ensure safety keep other electrical devices away from the magnetic base of the levitating moon lamp. 

How do you make your moon lamp levitate?

Your moon lamp will levitate once you begin to feel the pull of the magnets and the light begins to flicker. Simply move the moon around the base of the lamp until the connection is made and the levitation stabilizes. 


How do you turn off a moon lamp?

All of our moon lamps can be easily turned off and on through the touch sensor. On the levitating moon lamp this sensor is located on the levitating base while on the Original and Galaxy lamp this sensor is located directly on the lamp.
